The Gettysburg Montessori School is dedicated to providing the children of Gettysburg and the surrounding areas with a school that addresses early learning in a cognitive way. The Gettysburg Montessori School prides itself in delivering the highest quality education by providing a child-centered environment with specially trained educators and specially designed didactic materials that guide the learner to success. Our philosophy is based on the ideas of Dr. Maria Montessori who believed strongly in the contributions to humanity that the child could make. Believing that in order to create peace one must start with the child, she created a prepared environment in which the child was free to develop. When provided with a properly prepared environment, she found children naturally guided themselves to success. In this process, they develop a sense of pride in their work and a love of learning. The environment is specially designed to create a diversified environment that fosters a sense of peace in the child. The materials are a key to instilling a sense of awe. The child is compelled to complete work out of natural curiosity. In the completion of their work, they develop the ability to focus on a task until completion.
